Local Walks

We have a really good selection of walks within a few minutes of the house.

In the evening why not stroll up Orrest Head. You will be rewarded with the most glorious views of the Lake and the surrounding mountains. It is an easy walk and best done in the evening.

Sherriff's Walk
There is an excellent walk that takes you from Windermere village down to Bowness - walking through woodland and quiet roads. When you reach Bowness, walk through the Fallbarrow caravan park right down to the water's edge, where you can sit and enjoy the Lake close up!!

School Knott.
An easy walk mainly over grassland, finishes at the top of School Knott, giving you lovely views over Windermere village and the Lake.

Troutbeck.
A five to ten minute drive from the house, and you will find the Troutbeck valley. A quiet place with some delightful walks and you can see the Yeoman's house in the village.

Whilst in Troutbeck, try the Queens Head - they serve excellent food and great beer!!

Grasmere.
Once the home to William Wordsworth and his wife, Grasmere is only a twenty minute drive away. This very pretty Lakeland village is certainly worth a visit and you can walk around the Lake very easily, enjoying the open views of the surrounding mountains. Treat yourself to a piece of delicious Grasmere Gingerbread in one of the local cafes!
